The ‘HOME TEAM’ News

metecho - together with Christ

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”

- Romans 8.14

Dear Friends,

For the past few months, we have been seeking the Lord for direction and vision for the next season of service for our family. Our time here is coming to an end, both in terms of our physical time commitment made to the base and in terms of the purposes God has had for us being here over the years. As these have come to end, He has begun to speak of what is next, the steps of beginning a new season.

Many of you, if not all, are aware of our call to work in the Muslim world. We have waited for many years for the opportunity to be placed there and work in the area of community development and church planting, seeing the Kingdom come to the people of those nations. We now believe God is moving us into a season of adjustment and acquisition - adjustment to living in that culture and acquisition of understanding the people and their culture. Part of the process has been the realization that those two things cannot be done here, and it has come time to say goodbye to our friends and work down here. This is a big step that we do not make quickly or without due counsel. Through a process with our leadership here and at home, our family and a few spiritual mentors, we have had many confirmations that this is the right time to move.

What this looks like is as follows:
We will return home in early August, to our Alaskan home that is. There we will stay for some family events, having a baby, and reconnecting with our home church. After having the baby in October, we will visit Canada for a month or so (dates to be finalized) before spending Christmas in Alaska. Then after Christmas we will be heading to a location in the Middle East. There we will be joining staff with a team and be full-time students at a local Arabic language school. It will be a big adjustment for a young family to make, but there is a strong team there, and we have friends who have been there for many years, which gives us people who can walk us through the process. After praying over a couple of options, we feel this is the best one for us as we look to adjust to a new home and learn a new culture and language.

Thank you for all your prayers and support of our time here. Please pray us through this season of transition, as times of moving and changing are opportunities for the attack of the enemy. We look forward to the time at home, to being able to catch up with many of you in person, and the time to just relax. Of course, it will also be a great time for the family to get to know Levi better and meet the newest member. If you would like to catch up, please let us know, and we will be sure to make it happen. When we are home, we will share more details of our plans and what is up ahead for us in our new home base.

Blessings. Rob and Lia

[Prayer]

  • For all four of us as we continue to grow as a family – that we would be quick to extend grace and think of each other.
  • For wisdom for Lia and Rob as they raise two young ones in the way they should go.
  • For more open doors of sharing and witnessing for Jesus among the women Lia regularly visits.
  • For love to be the gift Lia and Rob give each other on a daily basis.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.  - Joshua 24.15
